Reality is Watching

Reality Watches Back explores what these encounters mean for art, technology, and the experience of being human. Moving between intimate scenes, philosophical questions, and practical design, the essays examine memory, presence, creativity, and our freedom to shape—or leave—the worlds we enter.

Drawing on my practice as an artist, writer, and producer, the collection develops ideas at the heart of Hyper Immersive Reality: a framework I have created for experiences in which our participation can influence how a story unfolds.

Twelve connected essays are accompanied by two standalone pieces: the defining article on Hyper Immersive Reality, and an existential reflection on who we are when the world stops responding. Each offers its own point of entry into a larger inquiry: how do we preserve agency, meaning, and room for uncertainty as our environments become more responsive?
